Introducing Olivia: A Tale of Hope
On October 7, 2024, a report reached the Dumaguete Animal Sanctuary about a dog in desperate need of help. Found lying in a creek near the sanctuary, the dog was extremely frail and appeared to have recently given birth.
Volunteers quickly made their way to the site to assess the situation. They discovered a severely weakened female dog, struggling to move and clearly in distress. Her condition was critical, as she was practically starving.
After rescuing Olivia, as she was named, the team noticed that she remained very nervous for hours despite their efforts to comfort her. Medical examinations revealed that Olivia tested positive for heartworm, and she also had low platelet and red blood cell counts, indicating further health challenges.
To ensure she is free from rabies, Olivia must undergo a 14-day isolation period. Supporters are encouraged to wish Olivia a speedy recovery and are hopeful that she will soon find a loving forever home.
