An ailing dog named Thanos found a loving home with a compassionate young man from Argentina, who wanted to make sure his final days were filled with warmth and care.
Thanos received a heartbreaking diagnosis of cancer that quickly spread to his head, causing a large tumor. This serious condition led four different families to turn away from adopting him.
But his path changed for the better when 21-year-old Luciano Karosas decided to bring Thanos into his life.
Previously called Coconut, Thanos had only a few weeks to live after the discovery of the malignant tumor in his skull.
Before meeting Luciano, Thanos was living with another family who, overwhelmed by the demands of his illness, felt they couldn’t continue to care for him.
Other families who tried to adopt Thanos were confused and uncertain about how to handle his condition. This led to Thanos returning to an animal shelter, where Luciano finally encountered him.
Luciano was deeply moved by Thanos’ plight when he visited the shelter. Committed to giving the dog the most affection-filled final days, he adopted Thanos, sharing with Portal Amigo Cao, “I came out with a piece of my heart in my palm.”
Determined to improve Thanos’ well-being, Luciano initially sought to find ways to prolong his life. He consulted a veterinarian specializing in stem cell treatments, hoping for a chance to extend Thanos’ time.
Sadly, Luciano learned there were no treatments available that could prolong his companion’s life beyond the 40 days they expected.
Despite the bleak prognosis, Luciano and Thanos cherished their time together, creating joyful memories. Thanos, even in his condition, enjoyed playful moments and received ample love and attention from Luciano.
Ultimately, the severe illness claimed Thanos’ life. Luciano bid farewell to his beloved companion with a heartfelt message on social media, promising, “I will love you forever,” ensuring Thanos would be remembered fondly for the happiness they shared.
