A safari guide experienced an unexpected thrill when an elephant approached his South African vehicle and attempted to lift it.
The guide, Scott, was fortunate that the massive animal decided to retreat without causing any damage.
For those interested in wildlife adventures, WildEarth’s new channel on Freeview offers live, interactive broadcasts showcasing similar encounters.

During a recent Djuma, South Africa broadcast, Scott was sitting in his parked vehicle as an elephant casually approached across a grassy plain dotted with trees.

Scott greeted the elephant, saying, “Hello, boy. You’re a giant, and he’s coming right up to us. Hello, boy,” maintaining a calm tone.
However, his mood changed quickly as the elephant came into direct contact with the car.
Scott’s concern grew as the elephant pushed its trunk against the vehicle, causing it to shift. “Settle down, settle down. He’s very close, pushing his trunk against the car. You can feel the car moving,” Scott said.

He then warned, “Eh, eh, eh, eh! Stop that! Stop that! That’s unacceptable! You must stop, or I’ll have to start the car and chase you away.”
Fortunately, the elephant eventually backed off and walked away.
Still in disbelief, Scott addressed the camera, “I’ve never had that happen to me before. You can waddle back down that road.”
Despite the startling encounter, Scott managed to stay composed. WildEarth broadcasts live from South African reserves twice daily, allowing viewers to interact with naturalists and learn more about their work in these stunning environments.
