For several days, Jamie Orozco heard the gentle cries of a kitten, which filled her with sadness for the lonely little creature. Driven by a desire to help, Jamie searched tirelessly, keenly listening for any sound that would lead her to the kitten.
Eventually, the meows grew louder and guided her to a porch, where she found a frightened kitten all alone. The kitten was only a few weeks old, shivering from the cold. Without hesitation, Jamie scooped him up and took him to her home.
Understanding that the kitten needed immediate attention, Jamie reached out to her friends, Angelica Perez and Aaron Gray, for help. Together, they cared for the tiny feline, providing bottle feedings and showering him with affection.
Aaron shared his experience in an interview, saying, “In the couple days I had him I learned a bit about the effort involved in rescuing a bottle-feeding kitten. I have a ton of respect for the people who do this for more than just one kitten.”
Jamie and her friends soon realized that they couldn’t provide the constant care the kitten required, so they sought assistance from Wrenn Rescues, a local animal rescue group.
Ashley Kelley, a volunteer foster there, kindly agreed to take the kitten under her wing. She decided to name him Bartholomew, a fitting name for such a brave little soul.
Though Bartholomew was around six weeks old, he was exceptionally tiny, resembling a three-week-old kitten. Despite his small size, he had a big personality and plenty of love to share.
Bartholomew quickly became a beloved member of Ashley’s home, forming bonds with her other cats and always eager for cuddles.
He also had a hearty appetite, often holding Ashley’s hand during mealtime. As she fondly recounted, “He climbed right up my shirt and licked my nose when I got in my car with him.
He is the sweetest little guy I’ve ever met, and he’s very cuddly. He has already got me wrapped around his little toe beans.”
Since being rescued from life on the streets, Bartholomew has been enveloped in love and care.
Thanks to the combined efforts of Jamie, Angelica, Aaron, Ashley, and the team at Wrenn Rescues, Bartholomew found a wonderful home with amazing people who cherish him. It’s safe to say he truly hit the jackpot!
