While driving through South Carolina in the pouring rain, Angela Simmons saw a sad face through her vehicle’s misty window, a face she had been seeking.
Earlier that day, locals from a nearby trailer park had informed Simmons about a charming puppy tied next to a roadside couch. Intrigued and concerned, Simmons knew she had to step in.
As she got closer, Simmons noticed the puppy’s itchy paws and nose, evidence of its prolonged exposure to the elements and lack of proper care. Despite these conditions, the dog exuded warmth and friendliness.
With the assistance of the organization Auction For A Kaws, the puppy, eventually named Murphy, was placed in a foster home. It wasn’t long before Murphy began to thrive in his new environment, embracing the joys of family life.

A team member from the organization commented on Murphy’s development, saying, “Once he entered foster care, he proved to be the biggest love bug.”
Now, Murphy delights in his favorite things, such as snuggling under warm blankets, going for car rides and walks, and basking in the sunshine. Everyone who encounters Murphy is charmed by his joyful spirit and love for life.
A staff member noted, “He is highly clever and likes other dogs. He is motivated to learn and has wonderful manners.”
Currently, Murphy is in a home trial with a prospective family.
This once lonely puppy, who watched cars from an abandoned couch, is on the brink of finding a loving and permanent home where he can receive the affection and companionship he deserves.
