Miss Molly, a seven-year-old Belgian Malinois, endured a life filled with hardship and abuse, yet she never lost her innate loyalty.
Her former owners inflicted severe emotional and physical pain, especially a teenage son who took pleasure in beating her with a pole.
Confined to a small kennel with only a short lead, Molly was exposed to harsh weather conditions without any shelter. It seemed that her miserable existence would be a permanent one.
However, during her owners’ divorce, they sought to surrender Molly to a shelter. In a fortunate turn of events, a sympathetic neighbor offered her temporary refuge.
Recognizing Molly’s dire situation, the neighbor contacted Malinois and Dutch Shepherd Rescue (MAD Rescue), who promptly took her under their care.
The rescue team soon discovered that Molly was pregnant, and she eventually gave birth to nine puppies. Although she was a caring and devoted mother, her protectiveness over her pups concerned the staff.
Unfortunately, her deep-seated fears, stemming from past abuse, led to the heart-wrenching decision to separate her from her puppies. Seven were adopted into loving homes, while two went into foster care.
Molly’s trials persisted as her health began to decline. According to a Facebook update by MAD Rescue, “Miss Molly had a medical crisis where she was unable to keep down food, had dark-colored vomit and diarrhea.”
Further medical examination revealed multiple large ulcers in her stomach—an aftermath of enduring relentless stress and trauma.
Commencing treatment marked the start of Molly’s gradual recovery. Her resilience shone through as she slowly regained strength, aided by patient and dedicated rescuers who supported her arduous journey back to health.
In a bid to ensure her complete recovery, Molly was placed in a tranquil, low-stress environment at a veterinarian’s office.
“Molly has been living at the vet’s office due to needing a low-stress environment that is quiet and calm,” explained Vee Jenkins, an adoption counselor. Eventually, she transitioned to foster care, where her health continued to flourish.
The dedicated team at MAD Rescue is now on a mission to find the perfect forever home for Molly. They want her to finally experience the love, peace, and comfort she has always deserved.
Expressing their hopes, the rescue shared, “Molly has paid more than anyone ever should have to, and she is now very, very deserving of retirement. She needs a family who is ready to just let her relax, spoil her, and let her know what love is every day forward.”
After years of neglect and struggle, Miss Molly is now on the path to a new life—one filled with the love and care she has always longed for.
