Dogs have a simple yet profound desire: to receive genuine love and be closely embraced by their human companions. In the arms of their owners, they find true happiness and comfort.
Unfortunately, many dogs are deprived of this affection, facing neglect or abandonment instead of the care they deserve.
This brings us to Gordough, a loving dog who was heartbreakingly left alone, tied to a bench in a park by his previous owners. The despair and confusion he must have felt as he watched them walk away were overwhelming.

Despite being abandoned, Gordough did not lose hope. He waited patiently, his eyes filled with longing, hoping that someone would notice him and offer the care he craved.
His patience was rewarded when rescuers from the Austin Humane Society in Texas discovered him, a large Pit Bull mix with a sorrowful gaze.
Upon finding him, it was clear that Gordough was unwell. The 15/10 Foundation reported on Facebook: “He was crusty from head to toe.
He had infections of the skin and eyes and desperately needed medicated baths, eye drops, and ointment to treat them.”

Despite his discomfort, Gordough wagged his tail as the rescuers approached, indicating his recognition of the help finally arriving.
When they untied him from the bench, Gordough seemed to understand that these kind people were there to rescue him. His eyes shone with gratitude.
Gordough was promptly taken to the shelter, where he immediately won over the staff with his gentle and sweet nature.
Weighing 115 pounds, he nevertheless proved that he was a gentle giant. The team got right to work, giving him soothing baths and applying ointments to ease his infected skin.

Through it all, Gordough was calm and cooperative, embracing the care he was finally receiving. The shelter staff showered him with attention and gentle affection, helping him to feel safe for the first time in a long while.
Gradually, his spirits began to lift as he experienced genuine human care.
Eventually, Gordough could finally rest peacefully, enjoying a rare moment of calm in his troubled life.
As described by the Austin-based non-profit organization on Facebook, “Gordough is kind of like one of those reclining happy Buddha statues come to life.

The zen master is an inspiration to couch potatoes everywhere.” His story quickly gained traction online, attracting the attention of the 15/10 Foundation in Los Angeles, which offered to cover his medical expenses, ensuring he received the necessary treatment.
Soon after, Gordough was placed in a foster home to continue his recovery in a loving environment. Initially, his foster family thought they were providing temporary care, but they quickly realized Gordough was destined to be with them for good.
They embraced him as a permanent family member, promising to love and care for him forever.

Today, Gordough enjoys cuddling, playing with his toys, and taking peaceful naps with his forever family. Fully recovered, his joyful and relaxed demeanor is a testament to a dog who now feels safe, cherished, and truly happy.
Gordough’s painful past is behind him, and he now thrives in a home filled with unwavering love, living the life he always deserved.
