In Cleveland, Ohio, a dog named Cora experienced a harrowing ordeal when she was heartlessly tied to a fence near a bustling street and left behind by her owner. Alone and frightened, Cora held onto the hope that someone would find her and offer a helping hand.
The fence that held her captive was surrounded by dense brush and trees, making it difficult for passersby to spot her. For three days, she endured this isolation without food or water, her eyes fixed on the road as she silently wished for rescue.
Finally, a compassionate stranger discovered Cora and reached out to animal control for assistance. Melina Russo, an officer from Cleveland Animal Control, promptly responded to the call.

Upon seeing Cora, Russo’s heart ached for the dog, who despite everything, warmly greeted her with a wagging tail.
As Russo approached, she spoke gently, and feeling the warmth from Cora, she proceeded to move closer. Cora, showing signs of relief, licked Russo’s hands, expressing her gratitude and yearning for comfort.
Russo offered treats to gain her trust and gently placed a leash around her neck. Once Cora was free from the fence, she seemed to understand that a new chapter was beginning.
Although a scan showed she did not have a microchip, Russo carefully helped her into the vehicle and drove to the shelter.

At the shelter, Cora was met with kindness and care. Her sweet and gentle demeanor quickly won the hearts of the staff, who felt a deep empathy for what she had endured. As she recovered, she was prepared to find the loving home she truly deserved.
Two weeks after Cora arrived at the shelter, her wish came true. A caring family visited and were immediately drawn to her. Cora’s tail wagged excitedly as she welcomed their affection, and the family quickly decided to adopt her.
“I just knew she was ours,” Erin, Cora’s new owner, shared with The Dodo.

In her new home, surrounded by love and safety, Cora blossomed. Her vibrant personality, once hidden by fear, began to shine, delighting her new family who couldn’t envision life without her.
“She is home. We are so lucky to have her. And I couldn’t imagine her not being a part of our family,” Erin added.
From being a frightened, abandoned dog in the woods, Cora has transformed into a joyous companion, enveloped by the warmth and love she always needed.
