Many people wish that every dog could experience the love and care they deserve. Unfortunately, stories of abandoned dogs are all too common. Today’s story is about Ruby, a dog who lived under the harsh conditions of a breeder until she was discarded after suffering a miscarriage.
Ruby was left alone, lying in a pile of trash and old furniture, feeling neglected and in distress. Fortunately, her luck began to change when Alyssa Carnes, a resident of Indiana, learned about her through her husband. He had noticed Ruby sitting on a broken sofa for several days, looking forlorn and abandoned.

Feeling deeply saddened by Ruby’s situation, Alyssa and her husband decided they had to help. They rushed to the location and were heartbroken by the sight of Ruby huddled in the garbage, clearly malnourished and bearing signs of neglect. Her tail was filthy, and she appeared to be in desperate need of care.
The couple immediately took action, feeding Ruby and taking her into their home to clean and care for her. Touched by their compassion, Ruby quickly expressed gratitude towards her rescuers. They later took her to a veterinarian, where they discovered the unfortunate reason for her abandonment. Ruby had miscarried, and the vet’s examination revealed multiple scars from previous Cesarean sections, indicating she had been used for breeding.

Embraced with affection by Alyssa and her family, Ruby soon adjusted to her new living environment. For the first time, she felt loved for herself, not as a means to an end. Ruby blossomed under their care, gained weight, and even found her smile. With her recovery complete, Alyssa took Ruby to be spayed, ensuring her days of breeding were behind her.
Initially, Alyssa did not plan to adopt Ruby, but the bond they formed was undeniable. Recognizing that Ruby was meant to be with them, Alyssa and her husband made her an official member of their family, pledging to love her unconditionally. Ruby, now with a forever home, found joy in being adored by a family who would cherish her always.
