A dog with severely deformed paws, named Chance, was found wandering a road, his condition a testament to a life of hardship.
Rescuers were stunned by his ability to survive, as his malformed legs made even basic movement a painful struggle.
Chance was immediately taken to a veterinary clinic where x-rays revealed the source of his suffering. His tail had been improperly amputated when he was a puppy, causing lasting damage.

The bones in a dog’s tail are connected to various tissues, and this injury had prevented his paws from developing correctly, leading to severe deformities. It’s suspected the amputation was done without proper veterinary procedures.
Chance’s road to recovery would be long and challenging. Rescuers were told he needed surgery and months of physical therapy, incurring significant medical costs.

However, they were determined to give him a chance at a normal life. Doctors presented two options: surgery on both legs or extensive physiotherapy.
After consulting with a canine bone specialist, they decided on a specialized plaster cast procedure. This wasn’t a typical cast; it was a custom-made prosthesis designed to improve his leg function by up to 60%.

Under anesthesia, veterinarians carefully realigned Chance’s bones and applied the prosthetic casts. Despite the discomfort, Chance showed remarkable bravery. He seemed to understand that this was his chance for a better life.

Chance’s recovery will be a lengthy process, but he is surrounded by caring people dedicated to his well-being. From a hopeless stray struggling to walk, he is now on a path to a brighter future, supported by those who believed in him.
