A jog through the streets of Cambridge, Massachusetts, became an unexpected encounter with what seemed like a canine illusion for Amanda Grace Hutter.
As she navigated her route, Hutter was startled by a sudden “Yelp!” that drew her attention. Surprisingly, she found a dog peering out from a fence, causing a passerby to jump in astonishment.

The magical sight was courtesy of a fluffy West Highland White Terrier (Westie), who seemed intrigued by the happenings of his neighborhood.
Captivated by the whimsical scene, Hutter snapped a few photos before continuing her run, amused by the dog’s calm demeanor.

Reflecting on the encounter, Hutter shared, “The sight of the dog sticking its head out of a fence made me laugh. The dog just looked around — it didn’t react to me.”
Despite frequent runs past the house, Hutter had never noticed the dog or the conspicuous hole in the fence.
However, after sharing the photos on Facebook, she discovered the dog was a well-known figure in her community.

One commenter, Kelly Ren, reminisced, “I think I used to walk by this dog every day in college. He was one of my first-ever Instagram photos!”
This vigilant pup appears to have been watching his surroundings since at least 2012, dutifully peering through his unique peephole.
While many may expect affection or treats, this neighborhood watchdog seems content with his role, uninterested in seeking attention or rewards.
Hutter eagerly anticipates encountering the dog on her next run, hopeful that his presence will again bring a smile to her face.
