Meet Ayla, a tiny puppy found by Krista when she was just two and a half months old. Ayla was in a heartbreaking condition, suffering from malnutrition and mange, and struggling to move across the ground due to her severe state.
Krista promptly took Ayla to the vet, where an examination revealed her poor health and the troubling fact that she had ingested a stone. Ayla’s need to crawl rather than walk had caused abrasions and lasting damage, indicating a calcium deficiency that led to deformities in her front legs.
Currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, Ayla is receiving all the necessary care to aid her recovery. Although she’s now safe with Little Steps, her healing journey might take up to three months with careful and consistent attention.
Fortunately, X-rays confirmed no broken bones, which bodes well for Ayla’s chances of walking normally in the future. Alongside her meals, she enjoyed a sunbath – a snippet of joy despite the persistent itch from the mange. Ayla remains a remarkable patient, showing resilience through it all.
The following day, Ayla underwent a blood test, confirming mange and nutrient deficiencies as her primary health challenges. To address her condition, Ayla was provided with a calcium supplement and a bandage to support her legs as she heals.
An observer noted, “It warms my heart to see our little darling, Ayla, filled with joy. She looks thrilled to play like a puppy again.” Ayla loves her little ball and needs this playful interaction to help learn how to walk.
