In a rural part of California, near a community of farmers, a dog was found abandoned next to a small wooden shed, lying in a ditch by the roadside.

The discovery came to light when someone noticed the tiny makeshift home and alerted authorities. Responding to the call, an officer quickly arrived on the scene and took the abandoned dog to the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter (SCCAS).

There, the shelter staff identified the dog as Pebbles.

Further investigation revealed a sad backstory: Pebbles had been left by her owner over a year ago when they became homeless and could no longer care for her.

Despite the challenges she faced, Pebbles’ journey took a positive turn thanks to the officer’s swift actions, which brought her to a safe place where she is now under proper care.

Pebbles’ sweet and gentle nature has won hearts at the animal shelter, and she is currently looking for a new forever home. Those who have met her, including Maria Chomentowski, have expressed their admiration.
