In Louisiana, two pit bulls named Norman and Francis found themselves shivering and abandoned in a canal, a common dumping ground for animals because they cannot escape. Trapped and feeling powerless, the dogs could only hope for rescue.
Luckily, a passerby noticed the distressed dogs and alerted Zeus’ Rescues. The rescue team immediately dropped everything and headed to the scene, aware that the situation was becoming urgent with the impending rains threatening to fill the canal.

Upon arrival, the rescuers were met with the sorrowful sight of the two stranded dogs. They spoke gently to Francis and Norman, attempting to soothe their fears. Initially, the dogs barked nervously, unsure if they could trust these humans. But as the rescuers ventured into the canal, the dogs’ anxiety turned into excitement, realizing help had finally arrived.
With their tails wagging and hope rekindled, the rescuers provided treats to lure them across the canal. Francis was the first to approach, cautiously accepting the food and eventually deciding to trust the team. She crossed safety and was whisked into safety.
Seeing his companion rescued, Norman boldly leapt over the deepest part of the canal, and the rescuers promptly secured him. Relieved that both dogs were safe, the team transported them to their facility in New Orleans, where they were cared for and showered with affection.
The rescuers quickly grew fond of Francis and Norman, describing them as loving and affectionate. Michelle, one of the rescuers, told The Dodo, “They love to be in the sunshine and will just lay out like a cat in the sun… They’re perfect angels.”
Zeus’ Rescues began the search for permanent homes for the dogs. Although the two enjoyed each other’s company, they were not inseparable and were thus put up for adoption separately. Norman soon found a loving family of his own, leaving Francis still in search of hers.
With her affectionate nature, it is hoped that Francis will soon find a forever family that will provide the loving home she deserves.
