Responding to a trespassing report at a local business, Officer Caramello encountered a black German Shepherd named Ronin.
Initially, it was believed Ronin belonged to a neighboring company, but Caramello soon discovered that wasn’t the case. A search for Ronin’s owner began, involving inquiries with local animal shelters to check for a microchip or any reported missing pet. Unfortunately, it became clear that Ronin had no known home.

During this process, Officer Caramello developed a strong connection with Ronin. “I was surprised that no one wanted to keep him, especially considering his attitude and character,” Caramello told CBS Sacramento.
“Something clicked with Ronin for me. I fell in love with him from the very beginning.”

Deciding to give Ronin a forever home, Officer Caramello adopted him. “I was able and lucky enough to apply and adopt Ronin,” he explained.
Bringing Ronin home, Caramello was initially concerned about how he would interact with his 9-year-old daughter, who had a fear of dogs.

However, Ronin quickly won over the entire family. “My daughter quickly grew to love him as did the rest of our family,” Caramello recalled, and Ronin settled comfortably into his new life.
“I look forward to coming home and seeing him every day. He meets me at the door. It’s just great company,” Caramello told CBS Sacramento.

Officer Caramello’s decision to adopt Ronin has created a lasting bond, proving that sometimes, the best partnerships are found in the most unexpected places.
